We built TripPlanner to help you plan road trips, not to collect data about you. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Mainely Software makes TripPlanner. If you have questions about this policy, email us at info@mainelysoftware.me.
What we collect
When you create a TripPlanner account, we collect:
- A username and, optionally, an email address, so you can sign in and we can reach you about your account.
- Your trip content — trip names, dates, the places you add, activities, notes, and any photos you attach. This is the content you create to plan your trips.
- Photos you upload, stored so they appear in your itinerary.
We don’t ask for your real name, phone number, or payment details, because TripPlanner doesn’t need them today.
Place search
When you search for a place to add to a trip, your search is sent to Google Places so we can show you real addresses, hours, and photos. We don’t collect or use your device’s location to do this.
Sharing a trip with others
TripPlanner lets you share a trip with people you’re traveling with, by inviting them by email. If you share a trip, the people you invite can see (and, if you give them edit access, change) that trip’s itinerary, activities, and photos. We don’t make any trip public or searchable — sharing only happens when you choose to invite someone.
Where your data lives
Your account and trip data are stored using Google Firebase (a cloud database and file storage service). Firebase may also collect basic crash and diagnostic information to help us find and fix bugs — this is technical information about how the app is running, not your trip content.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual trips from within the app at any time.
We’re currently building a way to delete your entire account and all associated data directly from the app. Until that’s available, you can request full account deletion by emailing support@mainelysoftware.me — we’ll remove your account and data promptly after verifying the request.
Children’s privacy
TripPlanner is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how TripPlanner handles your data, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top.
